Any kind of nice, soft yarn- I used Yarn Bee Soft Secret Aqua color

Size H crochet hook

Embroidery/Yarn Needle to weave in ends

Stitch used: Double Crochet (dc) – Yarn over hook. Insert hook in the next stitch to be worked. Yarn over hook. Pull yarn through stitch. Yarn over hook. Pull yarn through 2 loops on hook. Yarn over hook. Pull yarn through last 2 loops on hook (one double crochet made).

Pattern:

Chain to the length you want the scarf. For a versatile scarf, that can be worn several different ways, at a minimum you probably want at least a 60″ chain.

Double Crochet (dc) in the 4th chain from the hook.

*2dc in next chain, 1dc in next chain* repeat to the end of the chain. Turn.

Ch 2. dc in next ch.

*2dc in next chain, 1dc in next chain* repeat to the end of the chain. Turn.

Ch 2. dc in next ch.

*2dc in next chain, 1dc in next chain* repeat to the end of the chain.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

For beginners, here’s how you fasten off: while the yarn is still on the hook, cut the yarn leaving at least a 4″ tail. Then pull on your hook, pulling the tail through the last loop. Then thread the yarn through your yarn needle, and weave in the tail through the project so it disappears. Do the same for the tail left at the beginning of your chain.

I especially like how this one looks worn a little shorter as a collar. To wear it this way, hold the scarf right in the middle and wrap around your neck doubled. Then put the two ends in the hole where your hand is.
